AFPoster is right. I just recently went to one but I think there was some age discrimination there because I was the only one in High School who showed up. I don't get it though, the recruiting seminar went great and I made a lot of the people laugh, I was talkative but just today got the email of death saying that they turned down my application.... What did I do wrong?!?!?!?
If the position you were applying for was full-time that could be a HUGE factor. Because how many high-school students can work from 3pm - 12am and then be able to go back to work at 10am. If it was part time maybe they felt some other applicants had a stronger resume or they may have felt they want someone with more experience. You never truly no unless you ask a manager who interviewed you. Remember this though, you didn't do anything wrong. It has nothing to do with you just a hard marketplace that we're involved in. You could have been the only high-schooler and the others might have been college graduates, or someone with a PhD that lost his job and is looking for something quick, maybe even retired people. Don't beat yourself up over it, if anything God has a plan for you. If you don't believe in God than there is a reason for everything, maybe a better position opens up and your the one for the job.

lol, good thing you sold it, but he paid high for a used shuffle. 99$ seems like a great price shipped but I hate the fact that the shuffle shuffles!
What you don't get is that it was new. Do you know what NEW is> Never used, never turned on, never operated. Only the seal was broken at the Apple Store. Nothing was disturbed. Shuffle still in it's plastic wrap.

Not trying to steal interest from this board, but check out Spymac's newest offerings. It's almost a literal free .mac package. I've signed up and don't plan on renewing .mac (I made the decision not to renew long before Spymac).

Hell Apple coping the flash game lay out more proves that the simple lay out used is kind of a standard long before Apple used it. It was shutting down the standard argument MS is coping.

the best way it to buy an external hdd and just copy and paste your data (thats what i do) or make a time machine back up
your itunes question is very easy actually copy your entire itunes folder and library to the new external drive.-> go into itunes on the MBA-> go into preferences and advanced you will see where it shows your itunes media folder location click change-> and remap it to the external driver you can only access it while plugged in but it will save a lot of space.

That sounds quite basic to me. Using the Java servlets API or the various Cocoa frameworks are hardly advanced.
Advanced programming is generally centred around writing your own unique software for which there are no existing solutions.
1. Java (specifically Tomcat and Spring)
2. Objective-C (Cocoa, iPhone)
3. Ruby (Rails)
I know #1 and #3 are more web specific and might be beneficial because of my background in web development, but I really like the surge going on with Objective-C and the Mac and iPhone platforms. But would this help on a career level? I want to pick one where there's a strong demand for it and something that puts food on the table. I'm not talking about just writing apps for the app store, but writing apps for businesses that use Macs. It just seems like it's hard to land an entry or junior level job out therre without some type of experience. My main experience now is just education and I'd like to dig deeper into these frameworks out there that are used to work on a project that might gain me experience to show employers. Are there advantages to learning one framework over another or should I just pick one and go with it? I know Java and .NET are used a lot in the enterprise, but it seems like there's no shortages of these developers out there. My suggestion (since this is a subject I am very familiar with myself) would be to pick a language / framework and become as knowledgeable in that chosen framework as you can be. If you spend time contributing to the various mailing lists / forums / newsgroups of that framework people will notice you and you will be able to point to perspective employers showing them your expertise (and your enthusiasm as you will be doing this unpaid in your spare time obviously for a fair while). Also try and contribute code to the framework in question. Nothing shouts "expert" more than a code contributor to perspective employers (no matter if it is true or not).
Personally I tend to stick with C, Objective-C and Python (Django).

I like. Since I've got the Speck PixelSkin HD right now I wouldn't mind if it's bulky. If the kickstand is removable and the price is reasonable I'd get one. Really feeling the black/red colorway.

I was going to make a new thread but came across this post. I want to implement scenario #2. What mode would I put the airport express in? Would they be broadcasting the same network twice if I wired it up like this (meaning I would see WirelessNetworkName twice)?
put it in "extend (bridge mode)" under connection sharing on the internet page.
then give it the same SSID and security settings as the main base.
your devices will automatically switch to the stronger signal as you move around the house. it will only appear once.
most large locations (like airports (not apple's devices, but the places with airplanes)) do this, and you never know.
that's only if you are using the same flavor of wireless (B,G, or N) on both units, if you are trying to create separate G & N networks, still use the bridge mode but give them different names. (up to you if the security settings are the same or not)

Yes, that does look very cool. :) Would you please post a pic of how you wrapped the PS printout for the top layer around the rounded corners of the top casing? I didn't understand that. :(
All I really did was put the paper on the back (inside) of the case, and then kind of creased it on the edges where the case curved. That held it in place long enough for me to place the cover back on the computer itself. I didn't glue it or anything, just a simple crease with my finger along the edge. Sorry I don't have any pics, I really can't take this apart again, the screws are really worn and stripped.

My friend texted me asking if I wanted an old iMac for free, I obviously said yes. It is a snow 600MHz iMac G3 with 512MB of RAM, 40GB HD, and it works wonderfully. I'm currently looking for my 10.4 disks and going to install Tiger on it. Can't wait.

I remember in my second year working with Apple IIs, the local clone dealer loaned us a robotic arm with an Apple II interface and software.
You could program 3 vectors and the arm would 'navigate' to that position.
I've never been able to remember the name of the device and for a school it's usefulness was limited, but it was fun to play with.
IIRC, you could program positions for each joint in a sequence and kind of make it dance to a routine. :D

It's going to be printed on a 4'x8' vinyl banner to be displayed outdoors. I'm not a designer and I've looked at this thing for so long that I can't even tell what works and what doesn't. It'd be nice to get a fresh pair of eyes on it.
I'm sending this to the print shop to silkscreen several hundred of these, so any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
