I just hope they won't give up the space opera theme and go for some boring plot about saving Earth. Given that they said there would be tons of endings based on your decisions from 1 and 2, I'm not too worried. Still though, to have the trailer showing the Reapers hitting Earth...kind of
Speaking about new trailers, anyone watch the recent ones coming out these days? A lot of them seem to be made with real life actors, what's up with that? Not a big fan of the whole blu-ray look to them either. Maybe I'm just a traditionalist, but game trailers should show off a game engine or the studio's CGI ability, not the ability to hire actors to put on costumes and shoot them with a fancy camera.

is there an app that can change the tags of an mp3 based on it's file name? for instance if a file is called 01 - Song One.mp3, I'm looking for something that could recognize the file name as <track #> - <name>.mp3 and edit the tags accordingly for a batch of files? there's a zillion programs on pc that do this but i can't seem to find a single one for mac..

Great post & well done.
It's great to see one so young (going by your profile), so passionate about such old equipment. :)
As an old fart who remembers doing component level repair on those Power/Sweep boards, floppy drives and motherboards when the exchange price of a Power/Sweep was AU$450.00, it makes me appreciate somebody taking the time to go this far.
At least when I'm gone there will be those who care enough to keep these curios going. :D

Have you looked at PinPoint (http://www.macchampion.com/pinpoint_download.shtml) It's shareware ($10) and the default installation puts a red circle around your mouse if you leave it idle for a period of time or if you hit a hotkey. You get to set the time period and / or the hotkey.

I included pics from the site on the link... Oh and what's so bad about a blogger including a link in the post or a sig???
Get a life :) .. And don't click the link if you don't want :D
Nothing's wrong with it except it doesn't work probably. Unless you want it to go to a blogspot.info general page instead of a page with pics.

Not entirely sure on this, but I think you can set the cross fade feature in iTunes to eliminate the gap and then (and here's where I am not sure) those settings are synced to the iPod (maybe?).
in iTunes>prefs>audio there is a crossfade check box. unchecking it will jump directly from one song to the next, cross fade will blend one song into another. i think you want to jump from one song to the next, like the CD, otherwise you will be fading the end of one song with the begining of the next, and the only way that will sound good is if you are the DJ that created the CD and did the crossfading manually (which im sure they did during some part of production) but i really dont know if this effects the playback on the iPod

What happened, OP?
The OP has a simple question, :o but was a little unclear in their description, so we ask or clarification. :( Next thing you know we're arguing over the terms, ranting about our pet peeves, over-describing the problem, re-defining definitions we all understand, and... no response from poor OP.
We probably scared him away.
Come back little feller! ;)

IMO, AVI is a stupid idea - having a container format that can use just about any codec is bound to cause confusion.
Yeah, I'm glad the QuickTime format is nothing like that...

I would check the permissions on /Applications. It's possible that something set its permissions to be world writable. Probably running a Repair Permissions from Disk Utility would take care of that possibility.

As I understand it, Apple will end up restating earnings for previous years, resulting in lower profits in those years, or maybe even a loss. Basically rewriting history, which isn't that important to investors who are looking at what Apple is doing today, or guessing what Apple will do in the near term. If this rewritten history is "bad", just think about how bad things were before Steve J returned to Apple!

How to I add text to the end of an NSString?
Thanks
Create a new NSString with the new one added (either through stringByAppendingString or @"%@ blah blah",oldstring).
Or use NSMutableStrings.

I'm still looking for a Javascript IDE. Today I learned that Netscape and ActiveState plan to (http://www.activestate.com/Corporate/Communications/Releases/Press959151041.html) co-develop a Javascript IDE based on ActiveState's Komodo (http://www.activestate.com/Products/Komodo/) product, but I learned from their product manager that they are still deciding what features it will include. So it doesn't sound imminent.
If anyone knows of a Javascript IDE product that already exists, please let me know.
Thanks!

I use MPEG Streamclip and export as MPEG-4 using the H.264 codec and determine the bit rate (1MB/s is more than enough for 720p footage) and enable "multi-pass".
Or you could use Handbrake and use one of its presets.

You will likely be able to get it on a Thumb Drive, use an External Drive, or use Remote Install to install it via another computer with an optical drive.
