A.K.A...."If Zune fails, you can't bash us in the media. We told you it wasn't going to be successful." And then when it's still unsuccessful after five years, they'll be like, "Forget about Zune, look at this new operating system we're releasing this year. It's called Vista. It has this new search feature called Floodlight. When you search for something it instantly floods you with results from your hard drive."

A late summer release could explain why Apple wasn't so worried about releasing a Verizon iPhone in Feb (Jan announce) because it meant they would at least have 6-7 months before a new iPhone came out.
Of course I do find it funny how people complain about a new iPhone coming out because they want the newest and latest but never a new Android.

If true, it could be absolutely huge. Truly landmark. Imagine if Apple could somehow do the the TV industry what they did to nearly every other industry (segment) they're in?
The possibilities are pretty astounding. This is the Apple of folks. They have the money, drive, talent and momentum to get into any market and shake things up with a very good chance of success, and make the established players look totally flat-footed in the process.
No this isn't a good idea. What would Apple do with your TV that would be so neat? They can't make the picture any better than the TV manufacturers that they would have to buy the panels from. So what improvement would they make? How is your TV currently hard to use? Apple TV gets their iOS on the set for $100, so their software is already there. You just Airplay off of your iPhone onto the wi-fi receiver and, boom, you have control of the TV.
Also, look at Apple's recent successes. The iPod, iPhone, and iPad were not entries into mature markets. The iPhone was competing against smartphones and that isn't (and still isn't) a mature market. The iPod and iPad were of course still very new areas. TVs have been around for decades and I'm not even sure if you can say the switch to LCD screens was even that big an improvement from what we had 20 years ago. The profit has been squeezed out of this industry.

I'm kind of surprised that he was still alive.
Apparently he had long term kidney disease... I thought he would have died in a cave years ago and no-one had found his body (we haven't seen him in the media for years).
Props to the US forces.
It's certainly good news... but might not mean very much. Al Qaeda was always more of a movement or 'franchise' than a hierarchical organisation with command and control.
I still think he died a long time ago (like 10 years) and the CIA hid his body to deny martydom and ease the occuapation of Afghanistan and Iraq. I mean, how "convienient" that they "have his body" now.
Like you indicate, it doesn't mean much now, martydom or not. But if I was the CIA, hmmm...maybe it's time to shift focus to Iran in some way rather than "hunt al queda". This has also got to be good news for arms dealers.

They are already out in the wild. How do I know? Read below :)
I was in a restaurant in the bay area earlier this week when a lady walked in...
If you spent more time on this blog instead of in restaurants, you would know that mod jobs with white parts smuggled out of Foxconn factories have been around for many months now.
What we are a lot more interested in here is this rumored sighting of a lady in the wild!
Tells us more about her. :D

also how about ability to have bookmarks in a click menu, like yahoo toolbar, where it can be shared among a login on your .mac acct? across all your computers, ie laptop and workstation?
You can already sync bookmarks with .Mac, as well as access them online.

PS- I read on some thread on some forum, according to the Sarah Connor Chronicles timeline, Skynet became self-aware on Tuesday, 4/19/11, and TODAY is the day it launches its attack on the human race: 4/21/11.

I saw and got my hands on a possible prototype IMac that had a touchable screen and a smug free screen. It also had the earlier uncoded virtual keyboard in the Lion OS. though it was only a prototype but a very realistic one for production. I believe it to be the IMac I and my father both got our hands on earlier this year.:apple:
The rumor that was release about lion and possible indications of buttons on applications giving my claim more truth.:D two points!:apple:

I don't mind as long as the pricing is competitive, if its over-priced no way I'll be getting one..
Come on its apple, the thing is going to cost like $5,000 for a 32" screen.
I'm exagerating....... but only a little.

Is this just a European iPhone on T-Mobile there?
Sound more and more like a rumor - AT&T and Verizon are exclusives to the iPhone here...
No, the European iPhone is the same hardware as the AT&T iPhone. It will handle voice and pokey EDGE/GPRS data on the T-Mobile USA network, but not 3G data because they use the AWS band for that.
Whether you believe that there is carrier exclusivity is irrelevant. Apple probably tests on many different carriers around the world.
The fact of the matter is Apple doesn't announce the terms of their contracts with mobile operators, so your so-called "exclusivity" could have ended at midnight yesterday.

The only people who lump in tablets and PMPs into the platform are apple lovers who are in denial. Everyone else separates them by device. Smartphones are compared to smartphones. Tablets to tablets, etc.
But that's what the iOS platform is: an OS that runs on tablets, PMP's and phones.
The people who care about the platform are developers, which are kind of important to everyone who uses the platform.

There are lots of free services out there although maybe none that will be seamless as an Apple offering. Free is only free if you want to be bombarded with ads Google style. So far I don't see any value in the service based on rumors so I will wait for the official word before making my opinion known.

I have looked at my new white iPhones and it appears that there is a ridge that goes around the front side of the iPhone. It appears to be a type of "buffer" so that when the iPhone is placed face-down on a surface, the glass surface doesn't actually touch the surface and it stands solely on this outside ridge. Pretty cool if you ask me, and it still fits in my old credit card iPhone 4 case.

Emilio? Isn't he still at home waiting for a script for Breakfast Club 2?
 Emiilo is busy being a director and winegrower, thank you very much  :p
As to Charlie - I'm of two minds - I do think that part of this is definitely publicity. He probably hasn't had so many requests for interviews in years! On the other hand, even though that drug test he took was supposedly negative - I think that's probably a temporary thing and he will back to hitting the crack pipe pretty darn soon if he hasn't started up again already.
As to losing his children - yes it's sad for him, but definitely good for them. although with a drug-addicted mom - perhaps there is a well meaning relative that could step in for the boys? Charlie has 5 kids. His oldest is married I think, so don't know what she has had to deal with. But Denise always had custody of the 2 girls and I think for while there he wasn't even allowed visitation, so sadly, I don't think losing visitation rights is going to change anything for Charlie.

This is all very interesting and I can discern the excitement amongst you that have an immediate use for this technology. For me, I am looking forward to a full implementation of Wine, or similar product, which will eliminate the need to load the Windows OS before running Windows programs. I do believe this will truly set OSX free.
Does anyone know if any of the emulators will allow MS Sql Server to run on an Xserve platform? What about Exchange or other backoffice applications?
Elegant post but sheesh!

There's a manual here:
http://www.vmware.com/products/beta/fusion/fusion_getting_started_100.pdf
The beta is probably floating around the Internets by now, if you know where to look. I can't confirm that directly, but these things do leak fast.Yeah it already is.

Why do you keep comparing a single phone model to an entire platform used on 20 some devices?
Oh... that's right... it's all you can hang your hat on. Sorry... let's talk pummeled or badly beaten when any single Android phone outsells the iPhone.
Question should be, why does it matter how many android devices there are? There is still a one to one relationship, one customer buys-one device. Its android smartphones vs Apple Smartphones.
