As a platform it seems iOS is getting whooped on.
Except it's not. iOS is on over 50% more devices than Android.
Want to try again?

This mockup does not put the mute rocker on the side - whoops.
As long as battery life and CPU speed go up, i'll be a happy camper.

the key to apple succeeding this battle is to win the rights with the movie industry.
if bill gates gets there 1st, apple's in trouble.
the immediate danger is that the movie execs now know that there will be 2 players, thus, I would imagine, lessening apple's power in negotiations. bad for us potentially given jobs' desire to create a level pricing field for dloaded movies.
i would love to be a fly on the wall inside apple these days. i have a funny feeling that the 'ipod video' dev team is working overtime fixing issues and getting it ready for market.
go apple go.

Might get this, might not. Don't do contracts so it would be a simple case of buying and selling. Something most people I know do. You lot (Americans) should start doing the same and stop being beholden to 24 month contracts.
Supposedly it keeps our costs down to sign up for such long term contracts.
My monthly bill is $50 for unlimited texts, unlimited data, some number of minutes (I'm splitting a family bill with AT&T,) plus the $300 upfront for the iPhone itself. What's your bill come to?

I was disappointed that the resolution was not updated to 1920x1200...I would assume this would have added siginificant costs? or maybe they think the current resolution is good enough and that there is little noticable difference between the current vs 1920x1200 ? Anyone else feel this is a big deal? Reasons why the higher resolution is not necessary? Thanks
Why do people keep acting as though HD res on a laptop is somehow a self-evidently good idea? The correct question is, "Reasons why the higher resolution is necessary?" It seems utterly absurd to me. I don't think you guys realize the implications of extreme hi res + relatively small screen + lack of resolution independence.

I agree that it should be cheaper. Tiger introduced a lot. And Panther introduced Expos.
Actually, you know what I missed out?
SpotLight! ....
Don't have any use for Expose, but I use Spotlight quite a bit.
I think Panther was hit or miss for those first few weeks. Some people had major problems, I didn't.
Panther was fine for me; if I'd stuck with that version, then I probably would have been OK.
OS X "Kernel Panics" are transparent :)
That's a neat trick, but it's still a crash. ... :)
For the record, I've had errors on both ends. XP ones have been a lot more annoyingfor me at least.
OSX was my problem, which I did find surprising.

I love my MM, makes me miss the scroll ball when I use anything else.
If buttons or wheel aren't working right for you, why don't you just take it back and get a replacement under warranty?

Hi,
Microsoft kills basically everything.
They pretty much killed the netscape browser, they pretty killed other office suites, they are going to tery to kill the iPod now?
What next after that?
ERR.
One thing they have'nt killed yet is the Mac OS operating system.
Getting more and more upset at them.

Good thing that Apple takes parental controls as seriously as they take porn in their Disney store... Oh, wait. They don't.
Hello?!
Why it is Apples job to "control" kids?
Typical attitude these days:
Somebody "f#$%^%$ up and it's just gotta be somebody elses fault!
There's got to be a way that they can sue Apple for several millions over this.
After all Apple allowed somebody to log into itunes.

Mine pops up instantly. 2.0 GHz Macbook.
Whatever dude. 2Ghz\2GB RAM\256MB Video\160GB HD and there is NOTHING instantaneous about Parallels at all. It takes anywhere from 1-2 minutes to resume a session and another 2+ minutes to suspend it. This is with multiple images, several OS X installs, and I know how to tweak Windows with the best of them. Then there is the bug where it likes to freeze the entire system when you change locations. Not always but its a common enough thing that I have to stop the session to change locations or risk crashing my system.

I will say the market seems to disagree.
It seems to be 4-4.3 in screens is the sweet spot. 4.5 seems to be 2 big but 4-4.3 people seem to like.
Unless you take into consideration that not a single one of those phones sell even remotely as well as the iPhone.

This is the absolute worst winter in the New England states that I can recall. I am disenchanted by any more snow and look forward to some warmth. The symbolism is in the image!

That doesn't say anything remotely similar to "envisioned by apple." either. In fact, from your own article, try this link :

Let's not give a bigger role to Apple than the one they played.

I think you are all wrong. On the BMW model names "ix" stands for a fuel injection engine and four-wheel drive. I believe there is an OS M coming for certain BMW models.

At least the interface looks like an OS X application. I've always hated Parallels mega cheesy Longhorn icon looking crappy interface.
The other thing I don't like about Parallels interface is the terrible or non-existant managment of multiple OSs. The VMWare screen shot doesn't show how this is done with that application, but it it is anything the PC version I'm sold.
I signed up for the beta, let's hope they let me in.

the new consumer MacPro tablet... 1" thick, 15" widescreen, touch or non-touch inputs (u choose) bluetooth keyboard included (virtual keyboards suck). Built in stand. Face of device is ALL SCREEN with very narrow margins. Face is ballistic glass, tough and virtually scratchproof. Trackpad like the current notebooks, but virtual.
$1500. 2.0 core duo. ($500 more for dual core duo.) 2 gig ram standard.
Steve also announces CS available NOW.
Edit: Frosted ballistic glass. And the entire front is imbedded with some sort of 'invisible' solar panel array so that the device self charges when off (or maybe even when it is on?)
