I have a really strange problem changing the background wallpaper. Every time my computer goes to sleep the old background will be back again. However, this can be solved with a simple Shut Down before going to sleep.

The 8800GS was actually the 8800M GTS, the second-highest model GPU in nVidia's mobile lineup at the time. The HD5750M in the previous iMac was actually a HD5850M or the second-highest model GPU in ATI's mobile lineup at that time. So Apple hasn't been skimping up to now on top-end options. Admittedly, the HD6970M is notable because it's actually the top-end mobile GPU, so we have climbed up a rung in the ladder.
The issue I think most users have is not the actual chipset which Apple does pick well the complement a fast Intel CPU is how much RAM they put with it.
Really 512MB is pretty weak IMHO... 1GB should be standard across all models, while 2GB on 27" in a nice addition.

Between him and Cryer, that's still half of what the show brings in. And you're still not factoring in production costs.
Remember that CBS gets to air reruns and also owns part of the show to sell into syndication. That damn psycho has probably generated a billion dollars for CBS.

Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but Apple's pc share has grown to 6.1% in the US; we trail by 0.3 percentage points for third place.
10% is in sight. Perhaps by the end of 2007!

I've seen the blue screen on XP. It's funny because I've been told by Windows users that it doesn't exist in XP, yet I witnessed it two weeks ago when a colleague of mine was trying to do something with Adobe Acrobat. The program just spazzed and the blue screen came up.

And I really have to believe that the old metal look will be gone in the end, replaced by the new iTunes look.
Current theme count for the record:
* White aqua (with three different toolbar styles: old, unified/no-line, and little-icons-on-gray-pills like Mail)
* Textured metal
* Smooth metal (iTunes)
* Dashboard (non-aqua sliders)
* Black bezel (like the floating controls in iPhoto)
* Pro aqua (gray with thinner title bars--Final Cut etc.)
* EDIT: new "quick look (http://guides.macrumors.com/Image:leopardquicklook.png)" theme?
All of those are used by multiple apps. There are also special variations like GarageBand, but those are fun and not objectionable to me.
EDIT: Actually, none of the above are objectionable to me--they have their uses--just so we get down to ONE metal look instead of two :) And my vote for best toolbar is the big icons (not gray pills), but in the unified/no-line format. Really? So the fact that they did not have laptops with mainstream mobile quad core CPUs before Sandy Bridge when every other computers manufacturer had them is "immaterial" now? With LTE it's the same story all over. After they finally get in a year or two you'll probably be able to say again that it's immaterial. I bet it's very material to those who want iPhone with LTE now. Another major problem here is that Apple sticks to having just one model of iPhone (CDMA vs GSM differences aside). As if all people wanted the same thing. They don't.
Of course not all people want the same thing. That's why Apple isn't the only phone manufacturer in the world. You don't like their phone? Buy somebody else's.

More and more references to iOS design means that apple is slowly transitioning to touch user interface. It's pretty clear that next version of Mac OS X will be touch based.

Ugh, I REALLY don't like the tapered design. Don't like it on the MacBook Air (a machine I love in general) and I certainly don't want it on an iPhone. The iPhone 4 design is very good, I wouldn't mind a tiny bit thinner and a grippier surface, but I hope this design shown here does not happen.

I just bought a two button scrollwheel mouse for $1.67. There's no reason for it to cost more than that. $10 is too much.
Well, there is a reason...wireless (particularly bluetooth). Just because you don't want it doesn't mean other people do.

the new consumer MacPro tablet... 1" thick, 15" widescreen, :cool: touch or non-touch inputs (u choose) bluetooth keyboard included (virtual keyboards suck). Built in stand. Face of device is ALL SCREEN with very narrow margins. Face is ballistic glass, tough and virtually scratchproof. Trackpad like the current notebooks, but virtual.
$1500. 2.0 core duo. ($500 more for dual core duo.) 2 gig ram standard.

Edit: Frosted ballistic glass. And the entire front is imbedded with some sort of 'invisible' solar panel array so that the device self charges when off (or maybe even when it is on?)

I completely echo this comment. When I got my iPhone 4, I was completely ecstatic with its speed in every app. It was so fast that I would send myself text messages as quick reminders, rather than using any app to do the same. Now, however, it no longer runs fast enough for that. I'm used to Wintel products running slower over time, but I don't expect this from Apple.
Exactly - when I got my iphone 4 I couldn't believe how smooth/fluid it all was. I just wasn't used to it having only used windoze products where stuttering and lag is quite common.
Up to version 4.2.1 the iphone 4 was very smooth, with 4.3.x some of that feel has been lost.

I'd be surprised if this comes true. T-Mobile's network is not exactly up to par with AT&T and Verizon.
