The 21.5'' has a 512MB GPU while the 15'' MBP has a 1GB GPU, same chipset. There's no reason why would they do this except to push potential buyers to the 27''. This is ridiculous. If it were to keep the iMac price down, they would've added as a BTO.

Grab yourself a copy of xdelta (http://xdelta.org/) and do your fancy small update package yourself. There's even no need to look at Google, this was common practice on Gentoo GNU/Linux years ago (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=318671). I remember running a satellite server myself. However, that were ISDN/Analog/DSL 765k days, who on 16MBit cares whether the updates are 30 or 300MB anymore, as long as Apple hosts the files?

We should try to pump up the team with these new bigadv units.
This team slowed down huge when the GPU client came out, which is Windows only.

yes the GPU client is windows only, but i've heard that you can run a GPU client in linux. and i don't mean in wine either. but i've heard it's very tricky to get working

good to see the high end iMac has a more respectable GPU this time. thunder bolt this, thunder bolt that. If I got it, I probably won't put it to use for a long while. My 2010 i5 Quad is still kickin' speedily so I'll just wait for another 2 years till there's a freshly designed iMac. I'm most impressed with the GPU upgrade this time around. 256bit/1 or 2 gig DDR5. That's pretty sweet.

I'm not questioning those reporting their first-hand experience with an unacceptable level of dropped calls, but the posted repair report drafted by a Genius Bar tech is hardly documentation of AT&T's service levels, much less an official tolerance of that level. This tech was only reporting that he examined the iPhone and it was performing according to spec, and that its performance in use would be consistent with whatever level of service AT&T was providing at the time.
I realize this is beside the point for those disappointed with their AT&T service, but someone was wrong on the Internet, and it's my lot in life to stay up past 1 a.m. to straighten things like this out. <sigh>
This has been said a bunch of times in the thread, but people are still acting as if this is a definitive statement on iPhone service in NYC. It is not. The headline is very deceptive. All that's shown in this case is that one person experienced at least a 22% dropped call rate, and that an Apple technical service person determined that this drop rate was not caused by the iPhone's hardware. That's it.

I was in a restaurant in the bay area earlier this week when a lady walked in to pick up her takeout. She was yakking on a white iPhone. I got a nice look at it from about 3-4 feet away. It wasn't a black iPhone with a white cover, it was clearly a white iPhone with no cover. Saw the silver Apple logo and the engravings very clearly. It did strike me as odd, but I haven't been tracking all-things-apple closely, so didn't know if the white iPhone was in the market or not.
And yes, it could be that the lady had paid mega bucks to get a custom white skin, but that honestly seems more far fetched.

Awesome upgrade, glad to see they're hitting up the GPU for once.
But now my iMac is out dated, which obviously means its useless.

I agree with you. The first thing I thought of was the battery. Unless Apple has made miraculous strides with reeeeeaaaaallly thin batteries, this design would mean about 45 minutes of juice.

Me too. I didn't realize it has been 5 years since I bought my last pair of blue jeans. I only have 2 pairs of blue jeans, and 1 pair of dark greys. I don't wear jeans all the time like some people do, so I never think of replacing at least one of those. One pair definitely doesn't fit anymore, while I love the other pair (but they fit rather "meh").
I'm the total opposite. I buy a new pair of jeans every few months. Only own 2 pairs of slacks. I'm not at the point in my life where I should be dressing up every day. :)
Anyways, I'd love one of these, but it's not happening. :p

Again, the chosen word was "envisionned". This is purely an Intel tech that Apple had a big role in. The way Chuppa Chuppa initially phrased it reversed the roles, making this an Apple tech that Intel was tasked with implementing.
I have no qualm with Apple's big role in the tech, but they didn't "envision" it at all and to claim as such is to rewrite history.

Whether it was a real seizure, a panic attack, blind terror or pure acting, what does it matter? You have no way of knowing, and it is not germane to the subject. If you have seen somebody kicked hard in the head and they end up having what appears to be a seizure shortly afterwards, it is far more appropriate to offer support rather than assuming anything at all.

Edit: I just got a chance to look at the upgrades and I'm very excited. For a similar spec in the 17", the C2D is $400 cheaper than its Yonah counterpart would have been. Makes me wish I didn't have to wait until the spring to buy!

My 3g s died seven days ago, so I grudgingly upgraded to the iPhone 4. If the new white version comes out I might just sidegrade to it. The silver gray and white combination looks very cool.
