Here's a rumor I heard from next doors westie who knows a yorkie owned by an engineer at Apple. He said that incremental updates will happen to all Mac lines this year starting with the MBP.
Next year will see a major refresh of the Mac line probably starting with the MBP again for the Ivy Bridge release. Apple will have Ivy Bridge one month before PC OEM manufacturers get them. We will be blessed with USB3 and triple channel memory in desktop products.

-- predicted 4.3M iPads sold in 2010 (he actually lowered his estimate and ~15M were sold).
-- predicted "lines will be small" for iPad2 (by his own later admission, they were longer than for the original iPad).
-- predicted Apple would sell half a million iPhone 3GS during launch weekend (they sold double that).
-- predicted Apple would not launch a new iPhone at the 2009 WWDC (they did).
-- predicted in 2005 "Apple is prepping Macs to serve as a hub for digital media for consumers by incorporating Tivo-like DVR capabilities"
-- Has missed numerous financial estimates by large margins.
To be fair, Munster is better than most "professional" analysts, he does a bit more research and has a decent track record on certain details. But I'm just saying, don't put much "stock" into this.
To be fair Gene is better than some "analysts", but having said that is a joke that he get mentioned at macrumors without a modicum of reporting on his track record.

Hmm, modal software. This used to be a very undesirable characteristic, a violation of the Mac interface guidelines. I don't see the problem with the way Pages handles layouts and word processing now. It sounds like Apple may be caving into the critics who want Pages to be more like Word. I hope not.

Probably not to far off. what will be funny is all the people who bought a 2011 mbp, I am guessing probably will not choose to pay premium for the drive and will upgrade their laptop prior to buying affordable TB drive for thier machine.
I hope I am wrong, But I think 500 might not be to far off from actual price.

When Microsoft claim that their investment might not pay off for five years, they're paving the way for failure. For the next two or three years, when pressed about the lack of profits, they can claim that the payoff will be in a couple of years from then. They won't have to actually admit that they've failed until after 2010. It's not dissimilar to Bill Gates claiming that there's an 80% chance of Vista shipping on time, it sounds positive, but few people believe it actually will ship in January. It's very important that Microsoft try very hard with Zune. They keep claiming that the iPod succeeded simply because of slick marketing, whereas everybody else knows that it succeeded by being an attractive proposition, combining style with ease of use. It was word-of-mouth publicity that really worked for the iPod. You can't buy that, it added massive value to the money that was spent on advertising.
So here's Microsoft's opportunity to look at the last five years of the iPod, together with three years of iTMS, take it all in and apply their 'innovation', show us the ultimate product and then spend a fortune marketing it. There must be no doubt that Microsoft must be seen to throw everything into this project. Then Steve Jobs will be delighted to rise to the challenge and delight in humiliating Bill Gates.

I've got a 2.5 yr old MacBook that is feeling stretched with Aperture. I've been thinking that an iMac / iPad combination would be a good replacement.
Anyone with experience in getting iPads to work with iMacs (specifically remote access)?
I did this for about an entire semester before I bought a MacBook air to join the club. I go to school and its hard to be without a laptop, I'm not sure if your situation is similar. However, vnc viewer for ipad works so well with remote access. Its perfect if you don't need the actual computer, rather the files on there.

Wake me when iMacs have matte screens again.
I'm surprised a third-party vendor hasn't started producing matte screens for the iMac. The glass is simple to remove on the iMac.

So instead, the new sidebar pushes into the image, reducing it in size, and requiring you to expand the width ( :eek: ) of the window if you want to keep the image the same size. I don't really see the overall difference. I suppose it comes down to whether you prefer the images to get slightly smaller, or the tray to suddenly cover over other things.

Having worked very closely with the head engineers of AT&T, I do feel sorry for them. As someone stated earlier, that are spending billions to upgrade the network, but all that money will only meet current demand in some areas. The iPhone is such an incredible success that AT&T never had a chance. The same would be said about Verizon had they got the exclusive contract. If you want to lay the blame at anyones feet, it should be Apple. They should have made a CDMA version and split the load between the networks.
That's actually a very intelegent point. I hate AT&T for their price gouging and service but I would bet we would've said the same about Verizon if they got the exclusivity too three years ago.
The blame really is with Apple on this whole mess. Open up the rights to other carriers and give the customers the option between the big 3. At&t was an alienating decision.

There's a reason it's based out of Russia. So I hope you're happy knowing your essentially buying stolen property.

The site has been up and running for years now, because noone has been able to prove in a court that they are doing anything illegal. If the courts decide otherwise and shut the site down, I'll move back to Amazon.
