be satsisfied with what you have when you needed it... i got my 17" MBP only 3 weeks ago with no regrets and i love this thing, i don't need all that's there in the update, what i have now will suffice until the next time i need a new computer :D :D :D
I guess the point is that for some people this represents a considerable long term investment (like me) and they want to get the most modern hardware available if it will have to last years.
Worth noting that the projected clock speeds of Intels future laptop CPU's are not significantly faster, so there may yet be a "motorola effect"

1) Is this a permanent move to a Fall Release of the iPhone?
I'm guessing 'yes' simply because I think "Because they want it to be in the fall" is the one reason for moving it that makes the most sense to me. I think that's the whole point.
3) Does this affect the timing of iOS's release, which has traditionally been released with the new iPhone and has been centered around the iPhone's hardware?
I have less reason to believe it, but I sure hope that iOS 5 still comes out in the summer. I'd like to see iOS updates divorced from hardware updates, just like it is with the Mac.

If it did come out end of April. People will still buy it. Some people simply just don't know about Apple release cycles and will see it and jump to it if their contract is up.

What I was getting at, because a Vendor can provide anything from software to consultants to hardware to designs, is that it's important to note that Samsung doesn't design the parts. They just manufacture them.

Why? When leopard comes out it can handle 32-bit and 64-bit apps so why would they not give there customers the choice?

I spoil myself rotten during the year, which usually leaves me with nothing of interest for the holidays.
1) So like last year, clothes are the main thing on my list. Just essential everyday type stuff from J.Crew.
2) A nice road bike would be a plus, too. ;)

Mark my words, iPhone 5 will look similar to iPhone 4 and will be released later this year. It will carry the A5.
The A4 in the iPhone 4 is still perfectly capable and the phone is still one of the best on the market. The iPad got A5 and a redesign after a single generation because it really needed it, iPhone 4 does not, it was built to last and hold out for a while, possibly to skip/slip an upgrade date. The CDMA version is not long out the door and the white is due soon. The extra wait time will allow GSM/CDMA capability, perhaps even that LTE stuff androids seem to get wet over, in a single SKU. Maybe cheaper prices on NAND allowing higher capacities :).

Oh Apple Mail has a To Do list. And Notes. But the Calendar is a separate app, as is the Address Book. So why not also have a separate To Do and Notes application? Oh, because they're stored as special formatted email messages in Mail.app, that's why. So how about integrating Calendar and Address Book better in Mail. It's a mess.

The Apple TV 2 is selling well because it offers a lot of features in a small package for a small price.
Creating a new AppleTV within a TV is not practical. It has nothing to do with whether or not Apple could do it well.
You are not going to get people who just purchased a TV in the last 2 years to replace it simply to have AppleTV embedded within the TV when they can buy a $99 box. And people shopping for a TV are likely to opt for having the AppleTV puck + a TV without the feature built in. People know that these devices will be upgraded and they will end up replacing the internal AppleTV with an external of the next version in a few years. So why bother? Remember when the gimmick was to have the VHS and/or DVD built in? Are people now clamoring for Blu-ray built in? No. People get it. Keep the devices separate so they can be mixed and matched and failure of one component doesn't mean replacing all.
Its just not going to happen. There will be and AppleTV 3 someday I'm sure. But not a TV with AppleTV built in.

We are wrapping our best week ever, PPD is now 175k and our outlook is better.
Yet we only have two people using bigadv units... We can do much better :cool:
alright! and i am going to give the bigadv units another shot. but it's not looking good right now - just under 43 min for my first 2 frames. not sure what's going on. i've gotta install some updates on ubuntu and see if that helps

so i just installed vmware... and ive got to say... its really not up to par with parallels... its sluggish on my MBP 2.0ghz with 2gigs of ram.... and i mean real sluggish... rebooting doesnt seem to want to work.... i do like the interface though but overall, its not that great to work with compare to parallels.... i do realize that this is a private beta but even in the beta stage parallels was much better.....
hope that the next build is more promising
also... i didnt see a way to change the amount of ram dedicated to the virtual machine other then by creating a new vm....

Nope, I've never enabled them before on my iPad as I'm not an official Apple developer and I didn't have access to the beta release that included this feature in the past.

I basically ordered a machien and don't know what to expect from perf increase. I have a MBPRO core duo @ 2 GHz. What speedbump can expect on this new C2D @ 2.33 GHz?

The way they've been able to keep the price low while using quad-cores in EVERY iMac has been by downgrading the GPUs. The Graphics Cards in EVERY model are now mobile. In the last line of iMacs they were full powered desktop GPUs.
So, you see, while there's an upside (the processors), it doesn't come without a down (the GPUs). At first glance I was really annoyed as the �999 one (which is what I got before the refresh) had an i5 quad core, then I saw the graphics memory and got even more annoyed, but THEN I noticed the large shiny M at the end of the GPU name. THAT's how they've been able to bring us them processors and still keep the price down. They've downgraded the GPUs. As my i3 processor practically acts like a quad core anyway and is virtually never pushed to it's limits I think I'm more than happy with what I have. The GPU may only have 256MB dedicated memory but at least it's not mobile.
