Hmmm...I've never seen a power adapter on a plane, and I flew a few days ago (on a cheapo airline, but still...).
Normally only on long haul and even then only in Premium Economy and up. The cheap seats get no love!

I have to wonder how many people discussing audio quality buy their movies from iTunes vs Blu-Ray.
Just asking since apparently those people are so concerned with getting optimal performance from their media.
Not to take this off topic - but too many people have been duped by all the streaming serves and cable companies to believe they're getting a true HD experience when, in fact, they aren't because of the astronomical bitrate difference between what can be streamed vs delivered by hard media at current.
Not me. Most movie viewing comes from my collection or from Netflix. Netflix BDs in the mail, that is. And over half of the reasoning for that is the audio. I had great audio before great video.
Currently trying to decide how to begin purchasing music again. I've been out of the market for years, except for a couple CDs here and there and about 6 downloads, ever. Should I hunt down 24/96? Should I upgrade my TT and focus on vinyl? Or is CD going to have to be good enough? Possibly even some downloads for the kids' stuff to save cash.

They think it has an A5 chip. I'd take a wager if true, it's definitely coming to T-mobile. I'm sure Apple knows of the hurdles AT&T needs to overcome to buyout Tmobile, why take the chance of not releasing an iPhone and then the buyout doesn't go through? Thunderbolt IO is fantastic...no qualms there. Im just not sure how applicable it is in the laptop arena. IMO, if youre a professional with massive external storage...which is needed to be accessed quickly: youre already using a desktop. Also, Im not sure what good ThunderBolt accessed HDD do you...as the drives are the bottleneck. Its gonna be a little while before I hook the ol' TB SSD enclosure(cause I dont have the cheddar to buy on) up to my ThunderBolt MacbookPro. Its kinda like Bugatti Tires on a Nissan Z.

Mmm .. no. The reason you don't see it much is because XP SP2 is pretty rock solid as far as operating systems go.
Well, it is better than previous versions of windows. Both are reasons you don't see it as much.
My pc used to crash fairly often, and it was often when it was just sitting there and I wasn't even using it. Based on the number of times it happened when I was around, I can only imagine how many times it happened and I was unaware.

As a typical consumer, same as a prosumer, or pro -- speed. For example, backing up your iDevice, importing big megapixel photos and HD videos will be a whole lot quicker.
It will also make connections easier as TB can handled video, audio, and data in the same cable.
When is that going to happen?
I am not against Thunderbolt; not at all. I would love to have that kind of features in my iMac and a new Macbook Air if possible.
But when are we going to see those devices which take full advantage of Thunderbolt/LightPeak ports.
For eg,
- would it be possible to backup and sync full 64GB full iPad in 20s?
At the moment, NO.
- would it be possible to backup a whole TB of harddrive on an iMac in < 15 min?

For a consumer/pro-sumer, is Thunderbolt redundant for now? Will it take another generation of macbook pro's to generate pro-consumer Tunderbolt supported products?

Microsoft has a Wireless Laser Mouse 6000-that works on PC's and is laser too-unlike Apple that won't support those trying to get the the wireless Mighty Mouse to work on a PC. And my fav-Logitech has the G7 that works quite fine on Macs.

I bought a second apple TV for my bedroom, instead of buying a new TV, or a blu ray player, or another gizmo etc... so I could watch MLBTV and netflix, and have the ability to download movies occasionally.
I would happily pay for a new apple TV again this year and take the old one and hjook it up to one fo the other 3 televisions my house, if the features and upgrades were worth it to me.
Airplay is amazing.
I'll spend another 700 bucks on a new Ipad in another year or two, and will buy a new Iphone every two years.
I won't spend more than $1500 on a 55 inch television, and I won't even buy one until mine breaks. People buy televisions every 5 to 10 years. Apple isn't getting into the TV business.

Trackpads and touch screens are quite different input devices. Touch screen input requires that you actually "touch" what you want to manipulate. With a trackpad, you don't have quite the precision to precisely put your finger on an object on screen, since the object is not displayed on the track pad.
It just doesn't translate that well. Trackpads still very much require cursors, which iOS's UI lacks.
Then all you need is a cursor overlay; just how you operate in an iOS simulator.

Still, Apple should take this seriously and anticipate similar developments in the coming months. If something like this does take off, it'll likely be through spoofing type sites and so on. For now I'm not going to loose any sleep over this and trust that Apple, as it angles itself-towards dominance in the marketplace, won't make the same blunders MS did with their buggy OS.
Apple knows that MS has them in their sights and any slip would be exploited. You can just see them shouting from the rooftops, "My Gawd, Apple has viruses, malware and adware!" as if that paralleled the umpteen thousands of virus developed to exploit their own sub-par software.
I suspect it's being looked into now by Apple's security team with an update to emerge long before this pup is found in the wild.
