Probably because you're coming across as overtly cynical about the whole thing with your 'this is zero news/we might actually be worse off' stance. No matter how much you spin it...it is huge news. Both PR wise, as well as to those directly involved the war.
Everyone and their grandmother knows it's not over...not even by a long shot, something even Obama stressed in his speech. We all know whats likely coming. But that doesn't change the fact that the triumph...however small in the grand scheme remains significant

While their at it, the same feature could not only order the ram or hard drive for you, but using the the new iCal server features could have at look at the nearest Apple Store and give you list of free booking times to drop in and have the upgrade done for you.
That would be another useful feature for users which would also be profitable for Apple. Jobs should be paying us money for all these great ideas!

Pop seems to rule the airwaves and the tv so why should this be any different. Heck, you can't tell me hearing a song that came out less then a year ago being played on in a car commercial. Come on, it has already been commercialized.

I think Itunes and mac are great! The iPod is number one because it is amazingly easy and equally impressive looking. Zune will have a lot of competition.

Whatever dude. 2Ghz\2GB RAM\256MB Video\160GB HD and there is NOTHING instantaneous about Parallels at all. It takes anywhere from 1-2 minutes to resume a session and another 2+ minutes to suspend it. This is with multiple images, several OS X installs, and I know how to tweak Windows with the best of them.
Sounds like you're not talking about Parallels starting up, but a virtual machine either resuming or starting up from scratch. For me WinXP starts in about 15 seconds on a 2.16Ghz 2GB RAM or about 2 minutes if resuming. But that has NOTHING to do with Cocoa, QT, Carbon or what not. The difference between those frameworks in speed is in milliseconds and would have nothing to do with the above. Those would have everything to do with file writing to disk.
I can say that when Parallels has its VM Flags set to VM Cache as the primary caching logic, its disk speed is near native, but OS X apps slow down dramatically. Change that to Mac OS X primary caching logic and the VM's disk access slows down noticeably, but not horribly.

nah. I doubt they would do this. .2 inches is not that much bigger and would cause problems with designing apps to look good on it. I can see a 4 inch screen, and them getting rid of the home button. What they'll do for the home button is make the screen clickable at the bottom where the home button used to be. It would be similar to squeezing a magic trackpad. That would enable them to get rid of the home button and expand the screen to that area, making it a 4 inch screen. I can also see the area above the screen and next to the camera and ear piece become touch sensitive, enabling "drag down" menus that would enable multitasking or enable quick settings. For example, you could drag down from one corner to get multitasking menu and switch back to a different app, (8 instead of 4, I hope) and drag down from the other corner to quickly adjust screen brightness and turn your wifi hotspot on or off. They may also make the back touch sensitive, but I can't imagine a use for that, so I don't know what they'll do with it. But they made a glass back for a reason. I think they have a really good idea of what to do with a touch sensitive back.

I hope to GOD this doesn't actually make it to the final product. This is so unbelievably ugly I can't even take it. One of the reasons I love OS X is because of how cohesive it is. Most of the apps follow the interface guidelines which makes it feel unified and not the cobbled together mess that is Windows. To me, this just looks cheesy. It works for iOS but not for the Mac imo.

on my first gen ipad I had problems installing and had to do a restore, but after restore its working just fine.

If MS releases this player, which will have full wireless integration with the msTunes Music Store through your home PC with WMA10 or your XBOX360 some people could be persuaded to get it. The end-to-end process in a major part of the iPod experience, and this is MS's plan to get in on it.
Would I get one? No, because I have an Apple computer - but 90% of the world still runs windows, and now they won't have to install third party software or worry about integration issues. Their new PC (or old with new and improved WMA10) will connect right up and automatically fill up their new, media device - all without wires!
Give MS the benefit of the doubt here. If you dismiss them, you run the risk of falling prey to their marketing/sales/monopoly-position machine.

Once someone 'proves' that installation into your System folder, NOT your user space, can be done without an Administrative account THAT will be newsworthy. Making Safari launch a certain web page can be done with preference/.plist files. These are in the USER space. I have yet to see or hear about a compromise of Mac OS X 10.4.8 that does Administrative tampering using a non-admin account (without physical access to the machine). Now I, and many others have submitted feedback to Apple that they have to include, in initial setup of a Mac system, the requirement of setting up a non-admin account. This is security 101 and something neither MS or Apple currently requires. Once you are an Admin all bets are off. We have all seen the installers that you double click and don't require a password to install. Scary. Apple needs to REMAIN diligent on security, but they are not totally lax like some suggest.
