The P/E was just so high. And as Reilly and others have pointed out, it should be higher than its competitors due to the ridiculous growth. But you have the whole subprime mess, possible reception, low iPod numbers, and a monster P/E, it makes sense that there was a big correction.
I think it will drop to about $95 once it's all said and done (if we go into bad financial times), and I'll just pick up a bunch more there because no matter what the market does, Apple still has rock solid financials and growth.

bought the 27 inch quad i5 stock version last august just days after refresh. I loved it but due to wacky screen issue (dust or heat flaw) I got the apple store to just swap it out 3 months after I bought it. Second one had no issues and continues to perform flawlessly. I want to get a new macbookpro with thunderbolt but I think I'm going to hold off until Lion is released.

I can understand not being able to send videos or download content quickly, but to not perform the most basic function of a PHONE is pretty crappy for a PHONE service provider ... even in a densely populated area ... I mean for that cost, what exactly is the consumer paying for? Only AT&T and meteorologists get away with being so crappy on a regular basis

Oh I forgot...yes...the "Specs" argument. My bad. AND the Closed vs. Open debate. Yes...that too. It's so open that I can't upgrade to the latest Android version, because it's not available for carrier XYZ. But that's not Android's fault, or the Phone's fault. You can root it though. That's awesome...root it, then download the newest launcher, then reset it, and do this, and do that. Then when that's all done, it's no better than it was when I started. But hey, my icons are Green! Cool...

I saw one in the wild.
Employee at an AT&T store in Charlotte, NC had one last week when I stopped in to purchase a car charger. He said they are probably going to be out soon, but mentioned that he is having problems with the proximity sensor. he said the screen display is staying on when he is on calls and that his cheek/ear are activating display controls. Could it be an issue with the bright white reflecting too much light into the sensor?
I have same problem on my IP4

Sorry, refuse to see what ? You posted a TechCrunch article which refuted itself. You did not post an engadget story. What am I refusing to see exactly ? I'm reading the links you supplied. Supply links that at least support your position next time, and I won't "refuse to see it" like you say.
Next, your Engadget article was refuted. Hardly justification to propose as fact that apple "envisionned" anything as far as Thunderbolt goes.

Microsoft seems to be making every attempt to encourage piracy at this point. Is it possible for Windows to check this and refuse to run? It seems to me Microsoft is attempting to take control of hardware virally, i.e. if their EULAs were enforceable they are including statements that allow them to dictate what hardware you have and when/how you upgrade it...

There are some who claim that as long as Microsoft doesn't enforce their own EULAs then let them say what they want. Some will claim that the EULAs won't hold up in court so who cares what they say. Is it prudent to assume this and just hope for the best?

I wish you could change the color or shape of the pop-up.
Or, if you could use Independent ResUI and have it zoom in on that portion of the web page where the word appears, but within the Safari web browser.
Or combine it with some core animation stuff and blacken the rest of the screen except for the Safari browser, and put red dots on the term each place it shows up like a laser pointer in a presentation

Yes, the iPhone does compete against Android. The last time I went into a AT&T or Verizon store, this was obvious. To say that the iPhone does not compete against Android is silly.
WRONG. iPhone = hardware. Android = software.

Because there is only two hardware choices, the iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS. Making this argument is so empty, in that it does not take into account the reasons behind it.

I've been a iPad 3G owner since April 30th and I can tell you that I do not consider the iPad a mobile device. Sure, its easy to carry, but to lump in its sales with phone handset sales is a stretch. If you are making that stretch, how about adding netbooks into the mix as well?
If those netbooks ran Android, I'd count them. But they don't. And YOU'RE bringing up straw men? Phone versus non-phone makes no difference if they're running the same OS and same apps.
When your sales numbers for phones are ~50% of that of your competitor; whereas a few years ago they were barely a blip, then yes that means they are getting kicked in the teeth in handset OS sales.

I've been waiting patiently for this white 4, suffering with my white 3G for it. I really just can't wait til at least the fall for the 5, so I'll probably be picking one of these up.

The iphone 4 has an amazing design. the metal band is epic. the consistent thickness from top to bottom is ideal. it's incredible. the only thing i want improved is a larger screen�i was hoping for 4", but i'll take 3.7. i really don't see why they would do a design after 1 gen, especially one that seems to step backward into the ipod touch again. in fact, i would believe it more likely tha the next ipod touch would look more like the iphone 4.
