I agree an alarm/timer app would be nice. They should be able to do that with just an OS update.
That's the only thing it needs.

No alarm function because there is no speaker. As for the timer, try swiping left/right in the clock app ;)

My wife runs all the time with hers. She uses the Nike+ system along with some very pricey Sony bluetooth headphones with a remote builtin. I almost bought her a Nano because I know it most of the features she wants. However, the bluetooth headphones wouldn't work.

Any tips or should I just wait for the Sonys to day and see about a Nano then?

You can always get a Bluetooth headphone jack transmitter and pair that with a set of wireless Bluetooth earbuds/headphones. This addition goes for CHEAP on websites like eBay, Amazon, Google Shopping, etc., and it's an excellent alternative if you have a non-Bluetooth iPod

With a tethered jailbreak will I have to restore my ipod to factory settings if I send it to apple? If not, I am guessing that it would be wise to delete any jailbreak apps such as cydia. Also if I do restore is there a way to transfer my game saves that were progressed while jailbroken to the restored ipod? Sorry if these were asked before...

Yeah the value changes. Fortune is a Linux command line application that gives a fortune every time it's run. I want to post this output to twitter and as you may know twitter only takes 140 characters.

So when my script runs if the fortune is less than 140 it will post. If it's greater than 140 I want it to keep running the command till a fortune less than 140 is given then post it.

For the time being I am just echoing the fortune, eventually I will be using the twidge application to post to twitter, which I already have set up and working, I'll just ammed the script once I get the loop sorted.

Sorry for confusing, but youve made a quite nice photoshop comparison video

    The one you made here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhulqL96qcs

But with new iMac vs Macbook something :p .. Im really looking forward for your test mate .. :)

If only you had the iMac with 2Gb DDR5 VRAM, that would be the maximum potential we can get .. but its cool, im afraid the gaming maybe suck a bit on native resolution with 1Gb VRAM, but well see

I would skip the Radeon 9700 Pro and wait for nVidia's next-generation card (expected to be announced in mid-November), or even go so far as to wait until the updates in Spring 2003.

The GeForce 4 MX is a lot faster than the 2 MX, but it's most definitely NOT going to run Doom 3 smoothly at 1280x1024, and you'll miss out on the pixel shader effects that are required to use full detail.

If you're familiar with Windows versions of nVidia's cards, the GF4 MX in your dual-867 is about as fast and feature-equipped as the GF2 Ultra, though of course that had 64 MB of memory on it (and was much more expensive when new).

The GF4 MX you have is actually pretty unique, since (outside of the 17" widescreen iMac) all GF4 MX models are otherwise 64 MB, including the one that was available before the current PowerMac iteration.

When opening any High Profile HD h.264 video in the new Quicktime Player, opening the file results in very bad graphical issues. Opening the same file in any other video player (such as VLC or MPlayerX) results in no such issues. Here's a screenshot of the issue I'm having.
This is on a Base 15" 2011 MacBook Pro with no upgrades running the latest Mac OS X 10.7 developer preview.

As the article states this is probably for power users, everyone else stick to safari.

I think apps are under-priced to some extent, but then again, low prices=lots of buys. Regardless, I don't see the trend changing anytime soon. I forgot how much I paid for Pocket God but I think it was like a buck or two and that thing STILL gets updates, crazy value. Too many value conscious developers spoiling us so that $49.99 for what you can access for free seems nuts.

Video clips (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/06/02/video-clips-of-last-nights-d8-interview-with-steve-jobs/) from the interview were posted soon after it ended, but with the full 90+ minute interview now available, Apple fans have a warm-up act to enjoy before Jobs takes the stage for his keynote presentation at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference in just a few hours.

You will likely be able to get it on a Thumb Drive, use an External Drive, or use Remote Install to install it via another computer with an optical drive.

    TEG

Thanks. I didn't really trust trying to install the system over the network, but I see now that apple's external optical drive works with the mini server.

BOINC doesn't support OpenCL or CUDA beyond being a 'gateway' for the apps that use BOINC to enable it. The apps themselves that run in BOINC are the ones that must do the legwork of incorporating OpenCL or CUDA support into the programs. CUDA support on the mac is very limited compared to windows, so you don't see any MacCUDA clients. OpenCL is very promising, but it's still a pretty new technology so I don't expect programmers to really use it much for the time being, but as time goes on that will improve. Also with CUDA much farther along on Windows, which in turn is a majority of BOINC users, there isn't much incentive to use OpenCL yet. OpenCL is 10.6, and 10.6 is a small percentage of Mac, which in turn are a small percentage of BOINC users.
See the problem? Again this will change over time, but for the moment don't expect much GPGPU support in BOINC for macs.

    Let's hope this changes!

Thanks guys. I figured out I could restart using the OS from the other drive and then threw away the new OS and started over. Yes time consuming, but at least I'll get all my settings back!

The potentially bad part about this investigation is during the time of the options Apple had no "compensation committee".All compensation was approved by the board of directors. This could put Jobs in a bad position.

I think this was SOP at most corporations until recently.
