Your talking about buying a new video card for games that aren't available yet. Save your money and buy the latest and greatest video card when the games you want to play are released.
This assumes of course that you are unhappy with the GeForce 4 MX when Doom and UT 2003 arrive.

I like it very much. I can imagine sets of polls that you can vote for fun, and then your results are summarized in your profile. Think of the way Arn always starts a thread after Apple media events evaluating which rumors were true and which were not. Instead of just doing that after the events, there could be a set of questions and everyone would have a chance to make their bets.
One thumbs up from me.

but the sale doesn't end till the end of the year, so don't you think that spells LONG wait? [i.e., +/-3 1/2 months]

I was wondering about viewing angles, because at night I sometimes flip the screen around to face the bed, and watch a movie. Because the desk is about a foot higher than the bed, and it doesnt tilt down much, the colours look a bit 'off'.
And when it gets to a dark scene, I really notice the backlight.
the LEDs used most often are white ones. nice, provide brighter pics. but a really good combo is ips and rgb LED. i don't think something like that exists. and any ips screen will do for what you are looking for. doesn't have to be apple. dells are good. i believe asus has put out a 500 led IPS if LED is a completely necessity for you.

Hey, I have been looking at doing some high-end video work in the future and the person I work with uses SDXC cards in his cameras. Is there support for them in my MacBook? I want to make sure before I say I can help, and then embarrassed for not know what's up with my own laptop.
I own a late 2010 i7 MacBook Pro
Cheers!

Anyone going? I happen to be on a work assignment across the street from the mall, so I'm thinking about camping out. I was thinking 1 p.m., but now I'm thinking 12 p.m. might be a little safer? I'm looking to grab at 32 GB white WIFI.

Is anyone on AIM now that can show me how to make a my SQL database on my server?
My AIM is "Glenn A Wolsey"
Without quotes
wowww, thats a very broad request. have you installed the software yet? what os? the easiest way to administrate a mysql database -- especially for a beginner -- is to download a mysql admin gui...i cant name one for os x, but you could try phpMyAdmin if you're running a web server on the same machine. otherwise check out version tracker.

Hi,
I have been noticing considerable lag on my 2010 15" MBP (4GB ram) whilst using Photoshop Cs5.
I heard from my friend that if I were to use an external drive as a scratch disk, it would help.
I was wondering if this is true, and if so, what are the recommended external HDD?

Hi everyone,
I like to listen to my iPod Classic at night while I'm going to sleep but the lowest volume setting is too loud with the Sennheiser earbuds I'm using.
I know you can lower the volume of the tracks in the iTunes metadata editor, but then my music is too quiet during the day.
Is there a simple software solution to this problem? I'd like to avoid buying some piece of hardware, but I'm aware that an inline volume control of some sort may be the only solution.

All these posts and not one mentions MacBreak Weekly…
On many of the old episodes ( from the beginning up to about 1.5 years ago) he was a regular panelist. I think that's a much easier way to understand a little more about what he does (context, if you will) and his personality.
That said, he is an acquired taste! :p

Here's some code I have that does this. These methods are in a view controller and the point is to show a full screen view that's transparent, blue, and has a spinning progress view in the center.
// ==============================================================
// hideShowProgressView
// ==============================================================
- (void)hideShowProgressView:(BOOL)inShow
{
CGRect newFrame;
CGRect windowframe = [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds];
// The main screen frame is always the same so we need to go offscreen
// to a different place depending on the interface orientation
// If landscape the sizes will be backwards, origin is always 0, 0
if (UIInterfaceOrientationIsLandscape(self.interfaceOrientation))
{
CGFloat width = windowframe.size.width;
windowframe.size.width = windowframe.size.height;
windowframe.size.height = width;
}
CGRect offframe = windowframe;
offframe.origin.y += offframe.size.height + 10;
if (inShow)
{
// Build and show the progress view
UIView* backgroundView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:offframe];
UIActivityIndicatorView* progress = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithActivityIndicatorStyle:UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhiteLarge];
// Center the activity indicator view in the backgroundView
CGRect progressFrame = progress.frame;
progress.frame = CGRectMake(offframe.size.width/2 - progressFrame.size.width/2, offframe.size.height/2 - progressFrame.size.height/2, progressFrame.size.width, progressFrame.size.height);
progress.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleLeftMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleRightMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibl eTopMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleBottomMargin;
[progress startAnimating];
