Fake. Apple "ordered" a company to send all its manuscripts to it?
Companies don't "order" each other around....that wouldn't get very far in the business world.

My battery life issue was fixed by turning off the failed music social network PING in the restrictions settings. Once I did that, I get at least 48-72 hours standby if not more and hours of usage and the battery barely budges. It should be turned OFF by default, can anyone with 4.3.1 confirm that PING is in the OFF position at startup?

I heard something that the catalog will be release again soon, and since it will be available, hopefully, soon on iTunes...
Does this mean these versions will have a better audio quality, than the cds I bought almost twenty years ago???

Well, I rushed home tonight to get me a look at all the news today. What a waste of bloody time.
No iTunes 7 in the UK (see screenshot).
iTMS has games, but STILL no TV shows or movies.
Unfortunately, you can't buy the games separately for the equivalent of 5 bucks each like you can in the US, you have to buy all nine as a bundle for 36 quid!
And although I haven't installed iT7 (although I could download it from the States I suppose -- what would the US version of the software do to my UK iTMS purchased tracks, I wonder?) I ain't gonna because it looks like friggin' VISTA! What's that all about then?!
And another thing -- unless I'm wrong -- they still haven't got crossfade on the iPod. I've been asking for that for at least eighteen months. Bollx.
www.apple.com/uk/itunes/ is showing iTunes 7 for me. Either your machine's loading a cached page, or your ISP is running caches which are still serving the old page.
Meh. iTunes looks different, sure. Given the choice, I'd say I preferred the previous appearance... but it's hardly the end of the world. Gapless playback is quite nice for some of my live recordings, and the Fetch Album Art seems to have worked as well as can be expected, considering some of my tracks aren't tagged as well as they should be.
CoverFlow's gorgeous :)

I bet the non US growth is more like 30/35%. Amazing how they are growing like they are in the US.
I've actually never owned a mac. Ipads and iphones but i'm buying my first mac this year. So I'll add to that US sales growth.

3D is an additional feature. If you wish to not use it, by all means, don't use it. Your experience will not change.
It will be the same as adjusting your brightness. Not everyone wants a super bright screen, just the same, not everyone wants to view their device in 3D. There is a zero chance Apple releases a 3D product without the means of turning it off.
Adjusting the 3DS's 3D capabilities is a slider away. If you want to play your games in 2D, the way you've always done, you can still do this with ease. 3D is an additional feature for times you may want to use 3D on your device (watching Avatar on a plane). It doesn't mean you're going to be forced to use 3D while reading the New York Times.
I think what people are annoyed with is the constant discussion of 3D in mainstream media. It IS annoying, and I wish for it to stop, but at the same time, I can't find a reason why this technology would be bad for the iPad / iPhone, as it's being added on to the interface, rather than replacing it.

jeez, 8 whole mega pixels??? Wow fruit, welcome to you sure are being generous here. My android phone has 8mp and it came a full year ago... The pictures it takes are pretty sweet compared to my friends i(paidtomuch)phone4. I'm not trying to bash anyone but I see a lot of fruit boys on here saying they are OK with whatever fruity says. Ya'll really need to revolt or something because that's not right. I guess once the specs are finalized, we will see a 10+ mega pixel camera on either android or windows phone? I have no idea..
I will suggest that perhaps a physical side camera button like the Windows phone has for taking pictures would great because with a touchscreen it is hard to tell if you took a picture in a noisy environment when you can hear the click.
That is all.
PCP
What are you bragging about? Nokia already has smartphones with much higher megapixel cameras than your android phone. BTW, if you really owned an android phone why can't you say who made it? Are all android phones the same like robots?

The C2D MBP was relieved of the whine and some other issues one they moved to C2D. If the MacBook becomes free of these issues as well with this move than the small update is still great news.

Don't just blame Adobe...blame apple too. It's a code/OS issue. It's works perfectly on PCs.
Ahh, the armchair programmers are out again. Exactly what is a "code/OS issue"?
Apple is not responsible for Adobes crappy code. The fact that it "works perfectly" on PCs is completely irrelevant. I can write a program that works well on Windows and a program that works crappy on OSX - how is that Apples fault?
Why is Apple blocking Flash? This is one for the FCC! Same reason that Microsoft used to block Netscape. Apple wants websites to use Apple software and not Flash. FAIL! It's a violation of free markets! Here comes a Netscape-Microsoft lawsuit in the Supreme Court, except this time with Flash-Apple.
Actually, Apple wants websites to use open standards such as HTML, which is not Apples software. Flash is proprietary and is certainly not a free market. You should cut down on the caffeine.

The specific application of force by US warplanes under UN auspices, with request by the rebels and the Arab League should give the operation any legal cover it should need in both International and US law. Moreover, since NATO is also involved, our treaty obligations require us to act as well.
actually NATO doesn't come into play ... or do you see any german troops ? ;)
the fact that the very same arguments come up regarding germans none-vote in the security council like they did during the start of the iraq 'coalition of the willing' discussion makes it rather obvious that their are a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes yet again
"the germans are risking their EU leadership" "the germans are risking cross atlantic relationships"
because obviously according to the press playing the poodle of the United states or helping Sarkozy to win elections is desirable
Just think about it: Sarkozy got funding for his last campaign illegally from libya. Can there be a more convinient way of getting away from that dirty laundry than bombing them into oblivion ? While at home showing how much of a strong leader he is for increasing popularity ?

So why did they use an external wireless card? The only reasonable explanation is that whatever they did doesn't work with the built-in airport.
Yes, this had certainly occurred to me, and I think it's a fair guess. But I don't think I'd gallop off to "this is a total non-issue" from here. That's all I'm saying. Again, not panicked, but I think this should be pursued in the long term. There is a valid point in that the "seeking a network" activity of wifi cards in general offers a potential vector for exploits.

it's really funny to read those posts now. They should be infamous. I wouldn't want to be the one who posted that.
Heh, yeah. I especially love all the posts about how it was a huge mistake for Apple to get into the mp3 player market (that the iPod would die a quick death and be a colossal failure).
I think that is the problem when we buy so much into the speculation and hype - Apple releases something that, on the surface, is boring (i.e. "WTF?!?!?!? It's just an MP3 player and not some revolutionary new device?!!?!?!?"), but which has a much greater chance of success than some of the more out there stuff we want them to do. As a former Newton user, for example, I would be ecstatic if Apple did release a Newton 3000 or something, but I also realize that there is a good reason they aren't doing that - there still just doesn't seem to be a widespread market for PDA's at this point. So an MP3 player might be boring, but it turned out to be a very smart move for Apple.

is this really a big deal?
Seriously, The Beatles were great, I would think by now most people have their songs. How many Lp's and Cd's they sold? How many Millions.
The only positive thing from this outcome is that Apple Corps will stop filling lawsuits against Apple Computer. Besides that, I see no point as this being a big deal.
Basically this is a very big deal. The Beatles catalog is similar to the Star Wars movies. The release of the material on a particular platform or format gives final legitimacy to the format.
Think of the Beatles catalog as the crown jewels of music (as the Star Wars movies are the crown jewels of movies, we'll be seeing but BlueRay and DVD-HD courting Lucas Films, whichever format they chose will be the standard, you may not agree, but that's just the was it goes).
Also there are quite a few people who have packed away their albums and CDs, but then they're reminded of a classic Beatles song and it's easy for them to spend the money to re-purchase the album than go into storage and then rip it. And if the sound quality is better!
How can the sound quality be better, well in the 80's and 90's a lot of stuff was either rushed out (not the case in the Beatles catalog) or the technology was not up to par (which is the case), so it's possible that an iTunes version may actually sound better than the initial CD release of the Beatle catalog from the late 80's.

Why are you guys all against 3D? I think its great, BUT I think its a given that you will be able to turn off the 3D.. And if that is the case then there is no problem really :P
I reaaally don't think Apple will implement this. It goes against everything they stand for.
-Apple likes ergonomic, comfortable experiences. 3D gives people headaches
-Apple hates styluses and other mandatory accessories. In most implementations of 3D, you have to wear glasses
-Apple is moving toward high-resolution displays. In many implementations, 3D halves the effective resolution
-Apple is all about content - high quality software, UI, etc. 3D encourages gimmicks
-Apple's mobiles have standard-setting battery life. 3D will likely drain batteries - by doubling the rendering requirement, increasing the required backlighting, or by keeping a camera active to track your head.
"3D" screams of unnecessary spec. There are so many drawbacks and so few benefits. If Apple has yet to implement Blu-ray, it will definitely be awhile before we see 3D.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread (the MBP discussions are most of what I'm caught up in now  ), but I noticed an interesting article on MacNN that talked about this as well. To paraphrase, it said that when the iTunes TV shows were first made available, Walmart sent back DVDs of Lost, Desperate Housewives, etc., refusing to sell them. Looking on Walmart's site now, though, both Seasons 1 and 2 of Lost are available, both online and in stores (just as an example).
Threatening not to sell movies has a limited impact. I think Walmart is responsible for some 40% of DVD sales (not positive on that number), but if people can't buy DVDs at Walmart, they don't think: "Well shoot, I guess I just won't get this movie." They'll either complain or go somewhere else. This may be tough in communities where Walmart is the only major shopping center, but Walmart can't really blame movie studios when Walmart is the one refusing to sell the product.
I agree with other peoples' posts when they say that Apple's primary movie market will not really affect Walmart's sales (mostly wealthier middle class types who can afford to dump $300 on a streaming media device). I refuse to shop at Walmart for a variety of reasons myself; this just adds to the list.

Why is it so hard to get Flash on the iPhone? How come other devices can have it, and the iPhone can't? I mean I know it wouldn't be full blown Flash with keyboard controls and mouse actions, but it would be nice to at least SEE it and be able to CLICK on a few buttons, that's all I need...

Awesome! So this means I can use my Plextor 16x burner in the second optical bay? Or will that not work with an Apple?Didn't I tell you yes yesterday? Just buy a copy of Toast 7 for full support. You can also run multiple copioes of Taost 7 on one Mac. I run up to 4 or 5 simultaneously sometimes on my Quad G5 writing DVD Images to multiple HDs.

This would absolutely stink over Verizon.
1. SLOW network
2. If a voice call comes in, I lose my data session and I have to start over!
Droid updates come in just fine over 3G, plus i feel the VZW version of the iphone 5 will infact be LTE since the iphone 5 is now delayed!
In you case, Enjoy att tiered data and if you are on att unlimited data, try an use alot of data then att will claim you are tethering and automatically switch you to tiered data.
VZW has not done any of this!
