one thing i am very pleased about is that the stock 17" has all the specs i need (i will get more RAM elsewhere, not from apple, and not yet) 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 2.33 C2D so now i do not have to CTO from apple, i can just go buy it in store.
the only things i wish for more of would be a higher-end video card and easy access HD bay. other than that i am pleased.

Me too. I didn't realize it has been 5 years since I bought my last pair of blue jeans. I only have 2 pairs of blue jeans, and 1 pair of dark greys. I don't wear jeans all the time like some people do, so I never think of replacing at least one of those. One pair definitely doesn't fit anymore, while I love the other pair (but they fit rather "meh").

They'll buy the panel from Samsung, charge double the price of everything else on the market and the sheep will be lined up for days to buy one. It will be a huge hit and Sony and Samsung will go out of business.
Out of the 5 predictions above, only #1 and #4 have any chance of happening, and even that chance is slim to none.

The word "same" never occurs in the text, which never contemplates multiple installs.
It says you can't use it in a virtual machine. End of story. End of discussion.
Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses to also run the same licensed copy of Vista running natively on the licensed device in a virtualization environment as well.
In other words, if you purchase or build a PC with Windows Vista Ultimate, you can use that same installation and license to install it in a virtualization environment on that same platform. That goes beyond what has been done on any other platform for virtualization, and why the limitation is specifically delineated on Vista Home:
You may not use the software installed[1] on the licensed device[2] within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.
[1] This means "the software" (i.e., Vista Home Basic or Premium) is already installed on a licensed device.
[2] The "licensed device" is the device that Vista Home is already installed on, and that license may not be reused to also install it in a virtualization environment, which you CAN do with Vista Business and Ultimate, because Microsoft includes additional licenses specifically for virtualization use, which is why there are all these specifics about virtualization use on the lower end Vista versions in the EULA in the first place.
The Vista Business/Ultimate EULA on the same topic states:
6. USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may use the software installed on the
licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system on the licensed device. If
you do so, you may not play or access content or use applications protected by any Microsoft digital,
information or enterprise rights management technology or other Microsoft rights management
services or use BitLocker. We advise against playing or accessing content or using applications
protected by other digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other rights
management services or using full volume disk drive encryption.
This is because Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses so that you can use the same copy, legally ALSO within a virtualization environment on that same system. This is more than is possible with any other commercial OS, from a licensing perspective. The restrictions on Vista Home are ONLY restricting you from using it in a VM on the device where it's already installed. If you buy Vista Home standalone as a retail box, and it's not installed anywhere else, you are free, legally and technically, to use it in a VM to your heart's content.

First we are seeing pro solutions, then we'll see TB adapters for USB3 pop up... then as TB fitted computers reach a large enough number (this fall?), we'll see manufacturers adding support to ext enclosures and drives.

I agree - if this does turn out to be in fact the truth Apple has some explaining to do.
Yes, definitely a scandal. Steve Jobs must respond to this immediately on twitter so the word gets out about how Apple will make new White Phone's whole. More free bumpers would be the minimum, I would think. We must marshal the media and post youtube videos about this.

Oh yeah definitely I love the thought of controlling my computer by poking the screen, yeah I just love the fingerprints on the glass of my screen so much and the mouse is so CLUNKY, all it's good for is stuff like doing work and getting stuff done.
I'm with you. Having a touch screen for a desktop is a stupid idea.

I'm excited about the update. I plan on getting a new iMac shortly after OS X Lion comes out.
I'm really hoping for an inexpensive SSD primary drive and 2TB secondary "spinning" drive.
A solid video card would be nice, but I really don't game that much, so that's not a deal killer.
I expect this may be the last of the classic 2005-style (L bracket, screen with "chin") iMacs produced. In 12-18 months I expect Apple will launch a new style of iMac with no "chin" and a drafting table style multi-touch screen.

Honestly Microsoft will fail, and it's not because they are going to take forever to show anyone anything. Microsoft will fail because it doesn't understand the demographic it is trying to produce a product for. Microsoft may cater to business and such, but in the eyes of teenagers, many of whom are anti-establishment, Microsoft is simply not cool. Not only is Microsoft uncool, it doesn't understand what IS cool.
True, but as i have send in a previous thread about MS, the people behind their XBox division are actually "cool" and creative and MS is said to be giving them lots of freedom. Let's not wholeheartly disregard our competition here - even though it feels good to do so!

Having worked very closely with the head engineers of AT&T, I do feel sorry for them. As someone stated earlier, that are spending billions to upgrade the network, but all that money will only meet current demand in some areas. The iPhone is such an incredible success that AT&T never had a chance. The same would be said about Verizon had they got the exclusive contract. If you want to lay the blame at anyones feet, it should be Apple. They should have made a CDMA version and split the load between the networks.
actually, you are 100% wrong, if you read your history, you would know that apple did everything in there power to get it on as many carriers as possible for this exact reason. and the only company that would take the phone and give 100% control of the operating system was AT&T, and that was under the circumstances of a exclusive contract. And apple did the correct thing, because can you imagine what a iPhone would be if it was tightly controlled by the carrier? i can. its called a LG dare. and every other ****** touch screen phone out there.
Apple had the correct idea, split the load onto as many carriers as possible. but that couldn't happen, because the carriers are bitched greedy bastards, all of them, AT&T being the least bad of all of them, letting apple have control in the first place.
And as for making a CDMA version, thats pure stupid. because thats a dead technology that very few companies use, and only in one country. everywhere else, they use HSDPA, example europe, where the iPhone is available on many carriers, all using HSDPA standard, and there having 0 problems.
So no, Apple is not to blame, they did everything in there power to make it as perfect as possible, and they did. AT&T is to blame, for being greedy and only wanting this phone on there network only.

I just want to know the price
I"m sure these can be built but can the average teen afford one?
Consider the current ipod is $400. This is looking like it could be quite expensive. I just don't see it selling for less than half a grand

1) Is there now a way to shift several events in time simultaneously, so you don't have to change each one individually when you want to move a group of events?
Nah you can select more than one event but you can only move one at a time.
2) When you select several events from different calendars and copy and paste them do they all turn into the same calendar category like the current version of iCal operates?
Okies I tried to select 2 events (2 different days on 2 different Calendars)
I then created a new calendar and pasted the 2 into there. Both changed to that colour Calendar. was that what you were after?
3) Are there any more display options that let you control how events are displayed?
Not from what I can see.
the version number of ical is 3.0

Too many features can be a bad thing. I remember guy back in college... He always had the latest and greatest gadgets. Cell phone and beeper on his belt, you know they type. ***** tool.
Almost everybody have a cellphone these days. Add a iPod to that and possibly even a pocket pc and we all look like that poor dweeb. I doubt toolbelts filled with gadgets ever will make it as a fashion statement.
As you said yourself: As long as the iPod keeps it's position as the "cool" MP3 player, they will be just fine.
IMO, Apple needs to integrate the "must haves" in the iPod, or they will soon loose the "cool factor".

I dont know of any wireless phone that could support real 4G speeds. Besides on a mobile device, do I really need more than 20mb down, 5 up? Thats already faster than my cable modem lol.
I think Verizon 4G is useful at times. YouTube videos load quick on it, and the upload speed is 5x as fast as my cable modem speed :P. My Verizon 4G speed is about 15 down, 35 up. When YouTube videos stop and freeze while loading and you have to wait, you somewhat wish you had the 4G speed.
